Kathryn (Kate) Ringland is an Assistant Professor at the University of California Santa Cruz, where she runs the Misfit Lab in the Computational Media Department. She received her Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of California Irvine.
Kate’s areas of interest include human computer interaction, online communities, play, and critical disability studies. She is interested in understanding how play facilitates and subverts the ways in which we socialize and view the world. She seeks to explore how play facilitates relationships, care, advocacy, and activism among community members.
