Roderic Crooks

Roderic Crooks is an associate professor of Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. His 2024 book, Access Is Capture: How Edtech Reproduces Racial Inequality, describes the incorporation of successive waves of edtech in Los Angeles public schools that serve working-class Black and Latino communities, arguing that data-intensive edtech delivers value to privileged individuals and commercial organizations but never to the communities that hope to share in the benefits.
