It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Claudia Caro Sullivan is leaving her post as Assistant Director of the Digital Media and Learning Hub at the UC Humanities Research Institute. During her tenure of over eight years, Claudia developed and managed a dizzying array of programs including the DML Hub Summer Institutes, Connected Courses, and Reclaim Open Learning. One of her crowning achievements was the Digital Media and Learning Conference, which bloomed to a nearly 1000 person event during her tenure, and became our annual celebration of community connectedness. More recently, Claudia led the successful launch of the Connected Learning Summit, which brought together three annual conferences, Digital Media and Learning; Games, Learning and Society; and Sandbox Summit.
Many of you know Claudia as the face of the DML and CLS conferences, and as the beating heart of the communities that gathered at these events and online. Her energy and vision were essential to the success of all of the work we did at the DML Hub. It has been a privilege to work with such a classy, unflappable, creative, and always cheerful colleague. I hope you will join me in congratulating and thanking her for her stewardship of the DML and connected learning communities.
We will miss seeing her warm smile in the hallways and offices of UC Irvine, but I know she will continue to be a valued member of the Connected Learning Alliance. She is taking time to consider the next step in her career. I expect she would welcome the opportunity to stay connected and hear about your future projects and initiatives. Her LinkedIn profile is a good place to find her.
