From Behavioral Training to Universal Design for Learning – Embracing Neurodiversity in Therapy and Special Education

On September 23, 2025 (September 24, Japan time), the fourth webinar of the Neurodiversity Potential Study Group (NeuPoteKen) welcomed two experts in neurodiversity and learning from Japan and the United Kingdom, Professor Hiroshi Fujino of Tokyo Gakugei University and developmental psychologist Dr. Jamie Galpin. We discussed the therapeutic and learning needs of neurodivergent children, as well as the contexts, environments, programs, educational support, and training happening in Japan and the UK. The moderator was Professor Mizuko “Mimi” Ito, Director of the Connected Learning Lab at the University of California, Irvine.
