Neurodiversity at Work: Transforming every sphere of society for neurodivergent people
This essay is based on the dialogue from our seventh webinar, “Supporting Creative Learning for Neurodiverse Children“.
Introduction
This webinar explored the intersection of creative learning and neurodiversity through a wide-ranging discussion featuring leading voices from both Japan and the United States. The speakers included Mitchel Resnick and Natalie Rusk of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, as well as Nanako Ishido, a leading advocate for the neurodiversity movement in Japan. The session was moderated by Professor Mizuko (“Mimi”) Ito, Director of the Connected Learning Lab at the University of California, Irvine.
At first glance, creative learning and neurodiversity may appear to be separate topics. However, throughout the discussion, a common perspective emerged: rather than asking how to change people, the speakers focused on how to design environments in which every individual can thrive.
